October Dual Spotlight

Driving Innovation and Impact in Higher Education

This month, we celebrate two standout initiatives that show the transformative potential of education-driven innovation.

Lecturer Ejoe Tso explores technology's role in empowering students and enhancing accessibility. Through support structures like mentorship and collaboration, educators connect with peers and industry experts, unlocking new possibilities in higher education. His BeachBot AI initiative, aimed at reducing beach pollution, demonstrates how innovation can address environmental challenges.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Amin and his team at University of Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) turned a pressing challenge into opportunity by creating an in-house Groundwater Water Treatment System. This cost-effective solution not only saved RM 300,000 but also offered students real-world experience, fostering practical skills and an entrepreneurial mindset. By partnering with local communities, UMK extended clean water access beyond campus, showing how universities can drive regional impact.
