What does the community think about the level of engagement between higher education institutions and society?

Following the previous focus group done with the academics, to further gain insights on how Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) engage with society, ACEEU organized another focus group, but this time with some representatives of the community.

The focus group concludes that in reality, universities could have included society more in their research and knowledge transfer activities. Although some HEIs are already involving the community in their initiatives and activities, however, it is still done neither on a regular basis nor in a systematic way. The participants jointly agreed that creating spaces for deliberation and connecting HEIs management to society would be the way forward. It was further suggested that universities should also involve the strategic council of the university in such spaces, especially for brainstorming new ideas to implement.
