Kicking-off University-Society Capacity Building in Albania

ACEEU is a partner in a major university-society capacity building project in Albania. The project "University to Society Innomediaries in Albania" (U-SIA), funded under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building programme, started with a kick-off meeting that included a high-profile plenary session attended by the nation’s policymakers and key stakeholders.

Albania in on track to refurnish its higher education system to make it more geared towards building a knowledge economy and tackling the most pressing societal issues. Contributing to this end, the U-SIA project will foster the university-society links and cooperation in the framework of the Quadruple Helix model involving universities, the government, businesses and civil society. The project consortium brings together 9 Albanian and 3 international partners, of which there are 5 Albanian universities that have committed to establishing knowledge transfer and innovation brokerage units. The project will also result in a comprehensive online collaboration platform for the promotion and strengthening of university-society links and in a number of training opportunities for Albanian academics and university researchers.
