AI-Enabled Skill-Building for Tourism and Hospitality: Bridging the Industry-Academia Divide
The BIAD project is a forward-looking initiative that builds strategic partnerships between higher education institutions (HEIs), vocational education providers (VETs), industry leaders, Chambers of Commerce, and public institutions. The project aims to establish sustainable, long-term collaborations that strengthen digital literacy, inclusivity, and sustainability in the fast-evolving tourism and hospitality sector. At the core of BIAD’s innovation is an AI-powered skills monitoring system that analyses industry trends in real time, ensuring that education and training programmes remain adaptive and market-relevant. The project pioneers the integration of AI, data analytics, and sustainability principles into curricula, aligning with EU frameworks such as DigComp, EntreComp, and GreenComp to equip professionals with future-proof skills. BIAD adopts a modular and flexible training platform, incorporating stackable micro-credentials, hybrid learning models, gamified experiences, and interactive digital tools. A Europass-compatible certification framework guarantees cross-border recognition of skills, enhancing employability across the EU. The learner-centred design of the project ensures accessibility, particularly for women, gender minorities, and underrepresented groups, thereby promoting equity and diversity in the sector.
ACEEU's Role:
ACEEU leads the alignment of BIAD’s curricula with the EQF, ensuring learning outcomes, skills, and competencies correspond to its eight levels, supporting clear learner progression and enhancing mobility and employability. ACEEU also implements EQAVET and ESG frameworks to guarantee quality through systematic monitoring, assessment, and continuous improvement. Additionally, ACEEU designs the Europass and EDC-based micro-credentialing system, enabling verified, interoperable digital credentials and facilitating stakeholder adoption.
