The #edu4sdgs Summer School, hosted by Riga Technical University from 19 to 23 May, brought together more than 40 students from Poland, Latvia, and Spain. The Summer School focused on sustainability, emotional intelligence (EQ), and social responsibility, aiming to equip students to become proactive change agents in their communities and beyond.
Every day was active and exciting, filled with a variety of activities, ranging from EQ workshops and city games to group discussions and debates. The city games, designed by the #edu4sdgs project team, were a highlight of the week, featuring six creative and innovative game scenarios that motivated students to take action and collaborate, fostering key skills for creating meaningful change with a “think globally, act locally” mindset.
Besides actively leading one of the student groups during the city games (interactive challenges designed to deepen understanding of the UN SDGs through emotional intelligence, leadership, and community building), ACEEU also played a key role in shaping the definition of what it means to be an “Agent of Change.” Twenty-three outstanding students were recognised for their leadership, initiative, and meaningful participation. The selection highlighted those who showed potential and high motivation to inspire and drive positive change within their communities and beyond.
As the Summer School concluded, the students left with new connections, useful skills, and a stronger awareness of sustainability and emotional wellbeing. ACEEU is proud to have supported the journey of these young changemakers and looks forward to seeing the impact they will create in their communities.
