The CyberSecPro project advanced its mission to strengthen cybersecurity education and training with its 2025 General Project Meeting and a high-level public panel discussion, held on 23–24 June in Brussels.
As in previous editions, the event opened with internal project sessions, followed by a public panel at the Representation of the State of Hessen to the EU. The panel brought together cybersecurity experts, policymakers, and academics for an exchange on the future of cybersecurity skills in Europe.
Moderated once again by Kai Rannenberg, Professor at Goethe University Frankfurt, the panel was introduced by René Schulz from the Hessian Ministry of the Interior, Security and Homeland. This year’s theme:
“Which skills do we need for European digital sovereignty and its critical infrastructures?”
Speakers included:
– Jakub Dysarz, Cyber Attaché, Permanent Representation of Poland to the EU
– Koen Gorissen, Chair, Belgium Data Protection Authority
– Ivan Scannapiecoro, Team Leader – Senior Programme Officer, ECCC
– Luigi Rebuffi, Secretary General, ECSO and Women4Cyber
– Christos Douligeris, Professor, University of Piraeus and CyberSecPro Technical Coordinator
The discussion addressed the evolving skill sets required to safeguard European digital sovereignty, with a focus on critical infrastructure. The panel emphasized the integration of technical expertise, regulatory understanding, and strategic foresight, and called for stronger cooperation among educational institutions, industry, and decision-makers.
