International students bring new perspectives to their host cities, yet many struggle to connect with local communities. Bridges by Mentors turns this challenge into an opportunity: international students become mentors for local young people, building trust, belonging and intercultural understanding on both sides.
To help universities across Europe achieve the same impact, ACEEU and five partners have published two free, ready-to-use tools: the Service Delivery Manual, which guides higher education institutions step by step through planning, running and evaluating a mentoring programme, and the Guidelines for Training International Students to Become Mentors.
For ACEEU, these tools support our mission of helping universities become more engaged with their communities. Both resources were developed by six partners from six countries, validated in a transnational workshop and are free to use under a CC BY 4.0 licence.
