No, this is not an April’s fool joke! On April 1st, ACEEU hosted the third meeting of the NUDGING Ethical Council, which was led by the Ethical Council Chair Renato de Leone, from the University of Camerino.
The meeting brought together the council members which are on a journey to ensure the ethical application of nudges and self-nudges in higher education! On the third session, the Council reflected on and discussed its members’ independent evaluations of the 15 nudges developed by the partners of the NUDGING 360° consortium: ACEEU, TRENDHUIS, MOMENTUM, University of Camerino and University of Barcelona.
In preparation for the meeting, each Council member conducted a detailed review of the nudges using an ethical assessment tool specifically developed by ACEEU and previously shared with the group. The tool provided a structured framework to evaluate key ethical dimensions of each nudge.
During the meeting, members shared their perspectives and opinions, raised critical questions on the ethical nature of the nudges and engaged in a rich exchange of views. The discussion was highly productive, enabling a deeper collective understanding of the ethical implications of nudges in the context of higher education.
The sessions of the Ethical Council significantly contribute to strengthening the ethical foundation of the NUDGING 360° project, which aims to enhance HE educators’ digital competencies while addressing the digital transformation in Higher Education by using nudging and self-nudging techniques.
The feedback will be integrated in the nudges and self-nudges toolkits developed for HE educators and administrators. Stay tuned on what’s to come in the Final Ethical Council Meeting!
