ACEEU continues to raise awareness of how higher education institutions (HEIs) can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by introducing and promoting the SHIFT Project within its network. Building on this effort, ACEEU had the opportunity to showcase SHIFT as one of its projects fostering engagement in higher education during the online kickoff meeting of its newest initiative, Collaboration Compass: Fostering Innovation-Driven Cooperation between HEIs, NGOs, and CSOs (COCO). The COCO project promotes cooperation between HEIs and NGOs/CSOs to address social and environmental challenges through innovative, interdisciplinary collaboration.
A few days later, the SHIFT Project had the pleasure of being invited as a guest speaker in an online webinar for the PeerCollab Project, held as part of the 2025 #ErasmusDays celebration. The webinar gathered 25 academics and higher-education professionals from Spain, Germany, Italy, Belgium, and Romania to explore the role of peer assessment in enhancing engagement and student success.
The webinar offered a chance for ACEEU to showcase SHIFT as an example of how universities can extend engagement beyond the classroom by connecting learning with real-world sustainability challenges. For example, through the SHIFT Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Impact Index Open-Access Platform, University ESG Awareness Game, and Mini Learning OERs, higher education institutions can embed ESG principles into teaching, research, and operations.
By engaging with COCO and PeerCollab, SHIFT continues to be a reference point for projects fostering ESG in higher education institutions. The engagements amplified the visibility of the SHIFT project and laid the foundation for future collaboration and knowledge exchange, reinforcing ACEEU’s commitment to fostering engagement in higher education.
