RISE UP Project Kicks Off with First Transnational Partner Meeting in Münster, Germany

We are thrilled to introduce one of our recent Erasmus+ projects, RISE UP: Resilience, Innovation, and University Student Empowerment through reflective Climate Education and Action!

On 6 June 2025, ACEEU proudly hosted the kick-off meeting at its headquarters in Münster. The RISE UP consortium unites partners from five European countries: ACEEU and The Vision Works (Germany), University of the National Education Commission (Poland), European University of the Atlantic (Spain), Synthesis Center (Cyprus), People of 2050 (Denmark). This meeting marked the first in-person gathering for the consortium, providing a vibrant space to exchange ideas, discuss project objectives, and map out upcoming milestones and the overall work plan.

The RISE UP project aims to empower young people in higher education to face the challenges of eco-anxiety and climate grief through education, awareness, and actionable competences for sustainability. As project coordinator, ACEEU plays a central role in RISE UP, steering the project’s overall coordination and implementation. In addition, ACEEU also serves as the Quality Assurance (QA) leader, ensuring that results are delivered on time and meet the highest standards through its established QA framework.

Following the energising kick-off meeting, ACEEU looks forward to actively contributing to Work Package 2, the first main work package, which focuses on the operationalisation of the GreenComp Framework and the development of the Educators’ Toolbox. This work builds on an extensive literature review that will serve as the foundation for subsequent project results, helping partners identify the skills and knowledge needed to support students affected by eco-anxiety.

Building on this research, the consortium will co-create an Adapted GreenComp Framework for Young Adults, tailoring the existing EU GreenComp Framework to the specific needs of eco-grieving students. This framework will be complemented by a Policy Brief aimed at educational policymakers and higher education management, along with a Toolbox that will provide higher education professionals with effective tools and methodologies to address the needs of students experiencing eco-anxiety.

Stay tuned for more updates as RISE UP continues to advance its mission across Europe!
