The SHIFT project supports higher education institutions (HEIs) in strengthening their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) practices.
As part of this work, ACEEU has developed the ESG Impact Index Certification Framework to recognise universities for their commitment to sustainable development, based on the ESG standards developed within the project.
So how does it work? The certification process begins with a self-assessment on the ESG platform, followed by institutional assessment, external review and feedback, and the awarding of formal recognition to institutions that meet predefined ESG standards.
In the next steps, ACEEU will pilot the certification process with the University of Lodz, University of Almeria, Belgrade Metropolitan University, and Linnaeus University. Feedback from the pilot will be used to refine the process to ensure that the certification process is relevant to other HEIs in Europe.
Through the certification process, ACEEU is supporting universities to reflect on their ESG performance, identify areas for improvement, and strengthen their commitment to sustainable development through ESG practices.
